CALM IN CHAOS is a community center for the present-day and post-apocalyptic Arverne. Our building is shaped formally through the stacking of bars in alternating directions, and creates spaces used to connect the interior programs with nature and light. With self-sustaining greenhouses, even during an emergency like the Hurricane Sandy which had previously struck Arverne, Calm in Chaos will remain as an epicenter of community.
